Become A Thriving You!
“I’ve lived a lifetime of adventures that have taken me across the United States and to exotic regions of Europe. But I’ve also plumeted into the darkest corners of my labrynth mind and somehow found my way back again through the abyss of despair.” – Christopharo
I love writing fantasy and helping people. So, I decided to create a fantasy story in such a way as to entertain and inspire people to make a difference and take action in their lives.
I don’t claim to be an expert in mental healthcare. However, I have learned a lot about it out of necessity (see why) as well as my fascination with what shapes and drives us. In addition, I’ve also had a number of people seek my advice about issues they face. Sometimes people just need another person to listen. But, but other times, people need professional help.
I think the most important thing to do is to guide and encourage people to get the professional help they need. Some people just need a little encouragement others need to see that therapy and treatment can actually help. Especially when there are those that need medications and other treatments. I feel some people just need to realize; one doesn’t need to be mentally ill to need mental healthcare. Making the choice for oneself to get the right care and treatment for oneself is truly empowering…
I do my best to promote and encourage mental healthcare but also self-empowerment in my stories and artwork. Hopefully, between my writing, art, and website, people have a good roadmap to empower themselves to get the tools and courage they need to navigate their way to a healthier version of themselves where they can begin to thrive.
Can fantasy fiction stories cure people in need of mental healthcare?
Mental health care has come a long way for people that are in need of it. The taboo that has long since surrounded it in the past has begun to erode away as treatments and therapy have become more widely accepted. Yet there are many that still teeter on the notion of accepting the assistance for the kind of care they need. Fantasy stories can’t cure mental health issues, but they can provide a great opportunity for escape. Hopefully some of the work I do in my writing and art, as well as my efforts to advocate for mental healthcare, will help normalize the process for people in need of treatment and care.
Sometimes just talking isn’t enough
I’ve known many people with some very serious mental health issues and only medications and specialized treatments can help in those cases.
Suicide
The topic of suicide is very difficult for me. I generally try to avoid writing about it. It’s something I myself had contemplated. But worse than that, I’ve even known some people that were close to me that took their life. It’s a tragedy I wish could never be repeated. Life is too precious to throw away.
My Vision
I feel I can reach a broader range of people on an intimate level through art and writing with the goal of promoting mental healthcare & self-empowerment. The goal is to encourage people to seek the help they need for themselves. There’s a lot of things that concern me right now with current events in this world (I know I’m not alone in thinking that), but unless we fix ourselves, how will we expect to change anything?
Writing and art is my empowerment to initiate the change I want to see by getting people’s attention. Hopefully, this provides me the opportunity to make a difference.
It’s important to continually look for opportunities to improve ourselves. I’m no exception. Just ask my wife, I’m very flawed, but I am trying. I have sessions with my therapist and take my meds for anxiety and depression. I’ve also started a new chapter in my life by taking all the things I’ve learned and putting it towards the things that are important to me. I’m striving to make a difference by following my bliss and passion of fantasy and love stories via writing and visual art.
I invite you to join me on my new quest of the empowered body, mind, and soul…
