I recently created a new art piece entitled Death’s Beauty, based on a series that’s currently in the works(Information on the new series will be annouced at a later date).

I originally was inspired by Death’s Beauty while I was drawing a picture of a fairy while watching a tv series called Black Sails, based on the golden age of piracy. One of the pirates was a woman named Anne Bonny. I thought to myself, why not create a pirate fairy? So that’s what I did…

Death’s Beauty is about self transformation and the awakening of the soul. Sometimes in our life journey, we have to undergo a symbolic death of our old perceptions to embrace something new in order to be spiritually to be reborn. It is then, with a rebirth into a new awareness that we can see the beauty that exists around us and inside us.

Bonny The Rogue is fairy who is struggling to find her place in mysterious world of magic. She has lived under the rule of a tyrant queen and after a series of unfortunate events, Bonny decided to take control of her life and destiny. It hasn’t been easy for her, like many who journey the path of resistance, Bonny’s road was filled with turmoil and uncertainty. Refusing to give in, she fought death itself and found herself victorious and stronger than she knew. Now the dark and tumultuous world she fled to has become beautiful and precious to her. Now she realizes she’s part of that beauty.

Many of us have faced hard times. This picture was created as a reminder that we are not only strong enough to endure in troubled times but we can also thrive. It’s also a reminder that on occasion, we need to stop for a moment and appreciate the beauty and wonders in things we might take for granted. Sometimes the hidden splendors we discover can help us endure. They can always inspire. If you’re not sure where to look, you can always start by recognizing the beauty in yourself…
